When Three Become One

This work is an extraction of sentences from the texts of the three patriarchal religions and each of their concepts of Eden. The sentences are placednext to one another confluencing into one line, one voice, through hand cut letters on raw canvas. The number of letters used and their arrangement inside the fused glass and wood reflects an ideal fantasy of my dream for this world. The words, disconnected from their individual context, merge together to form a unity that reveals a connection.

I felt compelled to respond to the madness in the world, the hatred and violence, the bloodshed and pain to create something that could shift and ripple in the ether. Through the eyes of religion the world was created with sound through word. If holding onto that belief, working with words becomes seductive. Often the cure of ills lies in the poison.
